    IMPHAL, Jan 29: The Inaugural 1st Red Shield ASC Golf Cup Tournament was organized on Janaury 29 at Military Station, Leimakhong to commemorate 250 Glorious Years of Army Service Corps.  The event was hosted by Col Vikram Singh, CO Red Shield ASC Bn and all ASC officers. Rashmi Hooda, Convener Red Shield Family Welfare Organisation was the chief guest on the occasion.
    A PRO release has stated that a total of 58 golfers including 13 ladies and 8 children participated in the event.  Lt Col AP Singh with a gross score of 84 was adjudged the best golfer. Lt Col SK Jha won the prize for best net score. Chandini Bali came first in ladies putting and Lakshita won the prize for longest drive among children by hitting 146 mtrs.
    Col Vikram Singh also presented a rolling trophy instituted as the ASC Golf Cup and a Wooden Spoon for budding golfers to Maj Gen DS Hooda, AVSM, VSM**, Patron, Leimakhong Greens.  Speaking on the occasion, General Hooda complemented the excellent conduct of the event and also the role of Army Service Corps in providing logistic support to the Indian Armed Forces and wished the Army Service Corps all the very best in all future endeavours, added the release.
