IMPHAL Jan 7: A 10 Kilowatt wind solar hybrid power project was formally inaugurated by Tadubi assembly constituency MLA K Raina today at Sangkhumai village of Senapati district.

The project was taken up by MANIREDA and will give uninterrupted power supply to 39 households of Sankhumai village.

The inaugural function of the hybrid power project was attended by MLA K Raina and MANIREDA Commissioner H Imocha Singh as the chief guest and president respectively. Director MANIREDA, L Manglem Singh and Deputy Commissioner of Senapati Nidhi Kesarwani attended as the guest of honours.

Speaking at the function , Director Manglem stated that the abundance of natural resources of Senapati district is viable for taking up such hybrid power projects and out of a total of 14 such projects to be taken up statewide , 6 projects have been completed within the district. He stated that 10 projects have been completed so far and another 4 projects are nearing completion.

He further stressed on the maintenance of the said project to be undertaken by the village with a sense of ownership and to treat it as their private property.

He also gave assurance to the representatives of Don Bosco ,Maram that the school willbecome energy efficient and MINIREDA will take up the power project for the school after checking the feasibility.

The villagers of Sangkhumai submitted a memorandum to set up a water supply scheme to MLA K Raina today. The MLA voiced surprise on the issue by stating that a water supply scheme have already been earmarked by the government and the funds have also been deposited for implementing the scheme . He stated that the work for building the project should have started by now. He assured the villagers that necessary intimations will be given to the concerned contractors and the DC.

Talking to IFP, one of the villagers, Julia, stated that the newly inaugurated Wind-Solar Hybrid power project will helpthe village especially to the student community. She expressed with exuberance that the project will brighten the village from today onwards . ‘This is a New Year giftto the Sankhumai village ,electrification have been a dream come true’, she added.
