JAC formed, charter of demands submitted to the CM regarding Dr Kunjabihari killing

IMPHAL, Jan 12: A Joint Action Committee has been formed against the killing of Dr. Kunjabihari Singh, chairman Board of Secondary education Manipur, and has submitted a memorandum to the chief minister of Manipur with a charter of demands and warned of intensive agitation if the Government failed to meet the demand by January 14.
The JAC was formed during a public meeting held today at Kakwa Awang Naorem Leikai Community Hall. The charter of demands in the memorandum was adopted unanimously by the gathering after a deliberate discussion.
The JAC in their first resolution demanded a CBI enquiry in to the killing of Dr. Kunjabihari.
It further demands video coverage of the post mortem of the victim and also inclusion of private Doctor and legal expert hired by the JAC.
Necessary compensation and others as per the norm of an officer killed in duty was another demand of the JAC.
At the same time, the JAC has set an ultimatum to fulfill their charters of demands by January 14 failing which they warned of launching intensive form of agitation with the help of different NGOs functioning in the State.
The meeting also resolved that the JAC will not claimed the lifeless body of the victim until the culprit involved is booked and punish per law.
At the same time the gathering also resolved to continue to stage a sit in protest at Kakwa Keithel until further course of action is adopted by the JAC.
Prior to the submission of the memorandum, about 200 infuriated representatives of the JAC disrupted a protest demonstration staged at the Board of Secondary Office organized by the employees, labeling them to be part of the assassination.
The mob also dismantled properties in and around the protest site.
Further the mob also apprehended an employee of the Board identified as one Dilipkumar and handed him over to the police whom they have charge as involving in the conspiracy of the killing of the victim.
The JAC while justifying their action of apprehending Dilipkumar hinted the possibilities of his involvement as even in normal days the immediate son of victim is frisked before entering his father’s office chambers by Dilipkumar.
On the other hand the blockade that was imposed along the Naorem Leikai stretch of NH-39, since last night had been suspended this morning at around 10:30 am.
In the meantime, the employees of the Board in their clarification said that they had nothing to do with the killing of Dr. Kunjabihari adding that it is the wrong presumption of the family. They have also blamed security lapses for the incident which had taken place amidst a high security zone.
It may be recalled here that Dr. Kunjabihari was shot death inside his office chamber by unknown assailant yesterday evening around 3:30 pm. The incident sparked a strong protest along NH-39 at the Singjamei stretch by family and localities of the victim as the victim’s family has claimed that they were informed of the death as suffering from a heart attacked by the department which later turned out to be a case of being shot dead.
