NE festival in Delhi concludes

IMPHAL, Jan 30: A painting exhibition on Sharmila by NEO-GENE, a new generation of contemporary artists from Manipur, concluded at the prestigious India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, as part of the Culture of Peace: Festival of the Northeast celebration organised by the feminist publishing house, Zubaan, yesterday.
The two day festival also commemorated Zubaan`s completion of 25 years of feminist publishing.
Writers and journalist from the northeast or else northeast writers based in Delhi, deliberated on various problems and prospect of the region in creative as well as journalistic writings.
Among those who spoke, were Sanjoy Hazarika, journalist and activist, Subir Bhaumik formerly of the BBC, Pradip Phanjoubam, editor Imphal Free Press, Mamang Dai well known writer from Arunachal Pradesh, Monalisa Changkija, editor Nagaland Page, Temsula Ao writer from Nagaland etc.
The festival concluded on a grand note with Soul Mates, a rock group from Shillong, swaying a packed amphitheatre at the IHT to their blues music.
