Protestors block Imphal-Ukhrul road, 10 hurt in Tellipati blast aftermath

IMPHAL, Jan 22: Ten persons were hurt today morning during a police clash with the protestors of last night’s bomb blast at Tellipatti, Protesting last night’s IED explosion at a bylane inside the Tellipati area of Imphal East, hundreds of protestors blocked the Tellipati stretch of Imphal Ukhrul road this morning starting from 6 am. Protestor while trying to block the road attacked various passer-bys, however no damaged was done to any passing by vehicles.
Police on receiving information of the agitation stormed the site and retorted to blank firing and tear gases to disperse the mob.
The mob retorted to throwing stones as an answer to the tear gas and blank firing which resulted in the injury of one police commando personnel. 
The road blocked continued till 9 pm after which the protestors bringing an agreement with the police brought an end to their road blocking and staged a sit in protest along the Tellipati roadside, which continued till 3 pm today. The protestors convened a meeting this evening and unanimously formed a JAC against the Tellipati bomb blast. The JAC late submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister late in the evening demanding provision of proper security arrangement for the minority people particularly for Telli people residing at Tellipati.
The memorandum which was submitted to the Chief Minister today have drawn the attention of the state government to open a security out post in view of frequent attacks to minority Telli people by anti social elements at Tellipati, Imphal, East.
The memorandum while mentioning that the bomb blast attack at Tellipati where mostly minority Manipur Telli are settled  since  time immemorial gave a big blow to the  sentiments of the minority people has also condemned the incident of cowardice bomb attacked  to the innocent minority Manipuri Telli People.
The memorandum also further mentioned that, Manipuri Telli has been settling here since the year 1803 and the government of Manipur has entitled the Telli as minority in the Gazette of Manipur government.
It has also demanded payment of compensation to total damages caused to life and properties of the affected families of the residents of  Tellipati, and to give well dedicated electric power supply to Tellipati to avoid inconvenience and to check the movement of anti social element into the areas.
