Supplement to “An ode to Manipur’s last princess”

1002

Sir,

This relates to my tribute to the Imashi Wangonsana the Late Maharaj Kumari Binodini Devi entitled “An ode to Manipur’s last princess” which had first appeared in The Statesman Kolkata on the 24th January 2011 and was reproduced in The Imphal Free Press on the 25th January 2011.In this regard I wish to place on record that I had used the word “ last princess” ,metamorphic ally to mean the last of the siblings of the late Sir Churachand Singh Maharajah of Manipur who had while carrying a royal aura had herself plunged into full public service in the field of literature, cinema, culture, sports and support to numerous other causes affecting Manipur’s state and society. It was in this sense that I had used the term “last princess”.

I fully know and understand that there are numerous other descendents of the late Maharaj Churachand Singh who are still alive and I meant no offence to their present statuses whatsoever.

Yours sincerely,
Yambem Laba.
