UN Rapporteur apprised of rights defenders’ plight in Manipur

Guwahati, Jan 14: Margaret Sekaggya, the special Rapporteur on Situation of Human Right Defender, United Nation has interacted with the human rights activities and human right defenders of the state today.
 Margaret Sekaggya, who was on a 15-day visit to the country to overview the human right violations upon the human rights defenders in the country has attended Regional Consultation for Human Rights Defender from North Eastern states” held atthe conference hall of  Don Bosco Intitute of Khorghuli, Jaypur Guwahati today.
While interacting with the visiting UN Human Right Defender, the the human right activists and human right defenders from the Manipur state submitted their representation on the human right violations committed by the security forces to the common people.
Besides, the counsel of the Chairman UNLF, RK Meghen alias Sanayaima has also narrated the attituted of concealing the report of arrest of RK Meghen after he was arrested by the Government of India quite for sometimes.
During the consultation meeting today at Guwahati, the human rights activists from Northeast states including Manipur, Assam, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Nagaland have attended and sumitted their representations of reports various human rights violations cases of different state to the visiting UN Human Right Defender today.
Among the delgates from Manipur, Yambem Laba, former member Manipur Human Rights Commission, Ch. Surjit chairman NE Committee on Human Rights, Babloo Loitongbam executive director Human Rights Alert, Phulindro Konsam, convenor in charge of COHR, L Memchoubi, president Poirei Leimarol Apumba Meira Paibi Association, Aslam Khan, president TIPS, M Nirmala, secy. Momnu Erik Khombi Lup,  S Chittaranjan, Executive director CLPF, Manipur, Sapina Panmei, coordinator, Rongmei Lu Phaum (Manipur, Assam, Nagaland),  Bikramjit Oinam Secy. UPF, Manipur, Namdithiu Panmei, programme coordinator CORE, Jiten Yumnam, Jt Secy. CCDD, Anwari Noor Jahan, secy All Manipur Muslim Pangal Women, Neena Ningombam, secy. Extra Judicial Execution Victims Families Association of Manipur and Hechin Haokip representative of Women in Governance, Chandel have attened the meeting.
On the other hand, narrating whole activities that have been committed by the state actors and security force3s to the human defenders of the state requested the visiting UN Human Rights defender to arise the issues to the UN for the intervention so that the the human rights activists  of the state can work indpendently in the state.
Later, Counsel Moirangthem Gunedhor  of Chairman UNLF, RK Meghen laias Sanayaima as also submitted to Margaret Sekaggya, the special Rapporteur on Situation of Human Right Defender, United  Nation by explaining that RK Meghen alias Snanayaima Chairman UNLF is not a terrorist but a human right defender who have been taking role of leadership to the  people’s self determination movement in the state which is under the article 1(2) and 55 of the United Nation’s charter of 1945 ge declaration of the granting of Independence to colonial counties and peoples of 1960. Common article 1 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights of 1966, Article 3 of 4 of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples of 2006, his memorandum added.
