ACODOM draws government’s attention to resolve land dispute

IMPHAL Feb 22: All Community Development Organization  Moreh (ACODOM) has stated that the present conflict between Kwatha village and Leibi Khunjao with regard to land encroachment issue has caused hardship to the communities residing at Moreh.
A release of ACODOM said that due to the stand off between the two villages, a bandh has been imposed along the NH-39 since February 17 to prevent unwanted incidents.
ACODOM appealed to the state government to look into the matter to bring a solution in the interest of the suffering public of Moreh, the release states.
A development in the matter mentioned that following assurance from the Chandel DC H Deleep Singh that the demarcation process will be held within March 9 and in view of  the 3rd Lamyanba Hijam Irabot Memorial invitation football tournament, Kwatha village secretary T Nando announced that the bandh imposed on the highway has been suspended till March 10. If the government fails to take up the mentioned exercise within the stipulated time then the bandh will be re imposed again from the next day onwards.It may be mentioned that , the village authority of Kwatha village in Moreh Block of Chandel District had alleged that the neighbouring villagers of Leibi had been cutting wood and clearing jungle for jhum cultivation in the suit land under Injunction passed in the Court of the Civil Judge (Sr. Divi.) Manipur West in Criminal Suit No. 8 of 2003.
