MOREH, Feb 11: The public of Kwataha village have called an indefinite bandh on the Imphal-Moreh road from the midnight of February 17 following the failure of the concerned state authorities to follow the directives of the recent order of the Guwahati High court to conduct proper demarcation of the boundary of Kwatha village inhabited by Meitei and neighbouring Leibi village inhabitate by the Maring commuity near the Moreh Town in Chandel district.
An official release from the village authority of the Kwatha village recalled that, the Guwahati High Court on November 10 last year had ordered for proper demarcation of the jurisdiction of the two villages inhabited by different communities.
On the other hand, the matter of concern was arise following the strong oppositions from villagers belonging to the Leibi Maring Village during the demarcation of the boundary which was initiated by an official team led by the SDPO Moreh and OC Moreh police station along with the village chairman of the Kwatha village very recently.
The official press statement further termed it as unfortunate that a tension has been built up among the neighbouring villages following the demarcation process of the two villages as directed by the Guwahati High court.
The present condition of tension in between the population of Kwatha and Leibi village must be dealt seriously by the state government before it is too late, the statement added.
