IMPHAL, Feb 15:The Weavers Service Centre (WSC), Imphal, Office of the Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India in association with Crafts & Social Development Organisation (CSDO), Kongba Makha Nandeibam Leikai, Imphal East, Manipur had conducted “ 2 Days DYEING WORKSHOP CUM DESIGN EXHIBITION “ at Town Hall, Ukhrul, Manipur from 14th Feb. to 15th Feb., 2011 (during CSDO Craft Bazar at Town Hall, Ukhrul.
On the Inaugural Function yesterday at 11.30 a.m. L.R. Mark Ngaitheng, general manager, D.I.C., Ukhrul as chief guest and Th. Premeshwor Singh, secretary general, Manipur Handicrafts Societies Forum as guest of honour and H. Asun, president, Ukhrul District Handloom and Handicrafts Co-operative Federation took the chair as president. A. Nabachandra, Dyeing Expert from WSC has demonstrate dyeing process of cotton & silk yarn in different colour. Th. Premeshwor Singh, highlighted the importance of such type of programme to donduct at the hill district and other remote area and handloom cluster, so that weaver can earn and develop more nos. of innovative and exportable design as per buyers requirement. L.R. Mark elaborated the Mahatama Gandhi Bankar Bima Yojana Scheme of D.C. (Handlooms) (Weaver’s Health Insurance Scheme) in local dialect and English. Asun also thanked the WSC staff and CSDO staffs for bringing up such type of programme to Ukhrul District, recently the weavers of ukhrul district has developing day by day in handloom sector.
