Employee arrested for forging “no due certitificate”

Imphal Jan 22:  An employee of Education (S) Department was arrested by Lamphel police yesterday under section 419/468 of IPC for forging `no due certificate` of electric bill in the name of one executive engineer Ng. Subhachandra Singh of Imphal Electrical Division No. II.
This was disclosed by the chief engineer of electricity department, N. Sarat Singh today during a press conference held this evening at his office-chamber.
The  arrested employee is identified as one Y. Kunjo Singh from Langol who is working as a  driver in education (S) department.
Meanwhile, the power drive of the state electricity department was conducted today in areas of Pishumthong Nongthombam Leirak, Haobam Marak Kangjam Leikai, Dewlahland and Thangal Bazar under IED-I; Langol Housing Complex under IED-II; Wangkhei Lourembam Leikai, Kongba Kshetri Leikai and Yumnam Leikai under IED-III; and Chingmeirong West, Ayangpalli and Soibam Leikai under IMD division.
Altogether the power lines of 99 defaulting power consumers were disconnected and one unauthorized consumer was booked during the drive.
Moreover, the electricity department has collected due bill amount of Rs 8, 12, 715 from the spot and another Rs 8, 32, 389 from the bill payment counter.
