GP Women’s College foundation day

    IMPHAl, Feb 17: 47th Foundation of The Ghanapriya Women`s College (GP), Imphal was celebrated at the college campus today.
    The distributions of meritorious awards to the students who have scored highest marks in their respective streams was the main highlight of the celebration today.
    It may be mentioned that, the GP Women College came into existence on February 17, 1965. Late DM Dev Sharma, a well known educationist and son of Ghanapriya Devi, was the founder of the said college.
    Besides in his memory, the DM Dev Sharma Charitable Trust, Imphal instituted some awards for the meritorious students of the college. Gold medal and cash ward of Rs 5000 along with citation will be given to the  higest mark scrorers of the college for both Arts and Science streams.
    This year`s winners of the award were announced in the functioned today as Hijam Priyanka Devi and Naorem Nirma Devi have jointly received topper awards for science and arts stream respectively.
    On the other hand the authority of the college today has announced the awards for 11 toppers of the college in different subjects. These awards will be distributed in the annual prize distribution function.
    The foundation day celebration of the GP Women`s college was attended by H Rajendra Singh, former and retd. principal of the college as chief guest and the function day was presided over by Y Chandrasakhi Devi, present principal of the college today.
