IMPHAL, Feb 15:Maj Gen CA Krishnan, AVSM, IGAR(S) at Ukhrul on 15 Feb 2011 and inaugurated the first State Bank of India Branch, in Ukhrul dist in presence of Shri R.K Garg, CGM, State Bank of India and Shri B.J Sarma, GM, State Bank of India and Mr. Ashok Kumar, DC, Ukhrul. The inauguration ceremony was also attended by a large gathering comprising of civil dignitaries, heads of social organizations and populace of the area. The opening of first branch of State Bank of India will go down in the anals of modern day history of Ukhrul as a step towards nation building through peace and prosperity. It is a dream come true for people of Ukhrul realised through persistent efforts of state govt, Assam Rifles, State Bank of India authorities, civil administration and the locals.
The IGAR(S), in his address, stated that State Bank of India branch at Ukhrul is a symbol of growing economy and the growing empowerment of people of the area. He dedicated the Bank to the people of Ukhrul on auspicious occasion of the Lui-ngai-Ni festival. He further emphasised that opening of State Bank of India Branch with ATM and core banking facility will not only promote business but will also act as a springboard for the overall development of the people. Incidentally this is the first ATM in the district of Ukhrul.
