Journalist union to suspend boycott stir

IMPHAL Feb 17: The apex scribes body of the state, All Manipur Working Journalists`™ Union (AMWJU) has resolved to suspend the boycott on publishing of news related to the state congress party and the home department.
 A press release by AMWJU joint secretary Jonish, stated that an emergency general body was held today evening at the Manipur Press Club. The meeting deliberated on the issue of Sanaleipak editor A Mobi`™s arrest by the police for having alleged links with an underground outfit and also on the future course of action to be adopted by the union.
The release stated that intimation came from the Chief Minister O Ibobi giving assurance that the FIR lodged against the editor will be withdrawn as soon as possible. Following the development, the scribes unanimously resolved to suspend the boycott till February 25.
It further mentioned that unless the assurance given by the Chief Minister is not translated into action, the boycott will be re imposed from February 26 onwards along with other stringent means of agitation.
It may be mentioned that A Mobi was arrested by police for having alleged links with the KCP, the police action was decried by the scribes and as a means of protest , the developmental news of the SPF government along with its sister concerns were boycotted by the state media.
