KNO observes 24th Raising day

IMPHAL, Feb 24: A SoO signatory group with the Indian and state government. the Kuki National Organization celebrated its 24th raising day at three different designated camp located at separate locations in the state with the main function being held at Hermon designated camp of the 1st Bn Kuki Army, Chelep village under Tengnoupal police station in Chandel District in the presence of different civil organizations namely Hill Tribal Council Moreh, Tengnoupal, Machi Moreh areas block village chief association, representative of eastern Zale`™n-gam etc.
The other two camps where the day was observed are Salem designated camp, Sangaikot Churachandpur district, and Sinai Designated Camp in Saikul Sub Division.
The celebration at Hermon camp was inaugurated by its camp commander DG Haokip by hosting the flag of the Kuki National Organisation and paying solidarity to the departed souls of the cadres who had scarified their life for the Zale`™n-gam.
During the celebration Danish Haokip under secretary Finance KNO, Jangmang Haokip president Hill Tribal Council and Lethan Baite president village chief association Moreh were on the present as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
During the celebration, Ginsei Lhungdim read out the message of PS Haokip, president Kuki National Organisation (KNO) which said that that KNO was formed on Febuary 24, 1988 at Molnoi Kuki village near the Indo-Burma border with the main aim of restoring Zale`™n-gam, the kuki nation to its state of former glory when self rule prevailed among the Kuki people.
Further, the message extended his salute to all the departed souls of the KNO cadres, who sacrificed their lives for the Kuki Nation.
He further mentioned that from the time he took on the onerous responsibility of leading KNO, it has been his desire to personally meet each and every one of the cadres and express his gratitude.
Mentioning the past history, he added that in the year 1994, the KNO took initiative to welcome the `Old Kuki` brethren in Chandel, who left NSCN (IM) and NSCN (K) who are United Minorities Liberation Army and Pakan Revolutionary Army and in a ground breaking development this two group joined the KNO in the year 2007/08, due to the blessing of God upon the Kuki people who have made its sincere efforts to build and strengthen Kuki unity.
And further mentioned that in August 2005, KNO and Indian Army signed Suspension of Operation, when KNF (MC) and KNF (Z) joined the KNO umbrella, by 2006, the armed wing of KNO grew to include Kuki National Army, Kuki National Front (Military Council) Kuki National Front (Zogam) United Socialiest Revolutionary Army, Zou Defence Volunteer, Zomi Revolutionary Front, United Komrem Revolutionary Army, Hmar National Army, Kuki Liberation Army.
The celebration was enlightened by numerous other activities includiong cultural dance from Koibu, Maring, Chothe. The main function was ended with a big feast.
