Koireng youths clarify on inclusion of Koireng in Kom tribe nomenclature

IMPHAL, Feb 5: The Koireng Youth Organization, Manipur, KYO (M) strongly condemned the executive committee of Kom Cultural Dance and Research Institute (KCDRI) for inclusion of the Koireng Tribe in the list of Kom Rem tribes that appeared  in some of the local dailies on February 2 and 3 this month in connection with a function on culture and tradition of Kom tribe which was recently held at Khoirentak village under Churachandpur district.
The official press communiqué signed by one L Rengdon Koireng, Information and Publicity Secy. KYO (M) while giving acknowlegement and advice to the organizer (KCDRI) and general public as well as other institutions mentioned that Koireng Tribe had withdrawn from the Kom Rem Tribe Union/ Platform for more than a decade.
The release further mentioned that, on this matter numerous clarifications, illustrations and statement were published in press and media of local, state and national level and the matter was also submitted to the concern body. It is therefore advice to the concern not to mention about Koireng tribe in the nomenclature of the Kom REM tribes anymore in the future. Misleading of general public by the secretary of KCDRI is very shocking and is condemned by the organization.
It has further appeal to N Shakmacha Singh, Museum Association of Indira Gandhi Rastriya Manav Sangrahalaya (IGRMS) to have more knowledge about the issue and thoroughly analyze the congenial atmosphere. It has also re-acknowledged to all the general public, press and media, other institutions that, the  Koireng Tribe had withdrawn  from the Kom Rem tribes and Koireng tribe is no more a member of the Kom Rem tribes, the release added.
