IMPHAL, Feb 12: Drawing the attention of the Government to the controversy over declaration of DPC results of primary Teachers, 2006 the Kuki Students’ Organization, Sadar hills has urged the Government to settle the issue at the earliest possible.
A statement in this regard was issued by Thangminlen, the president of the students’ body, noting that application for the post of 1423 Primary Teachers was ordered by the Government in 2006 keeping in view of the shortage of teachers at the primary level. On the basis of order, DPC was conducted under the supervision of Board of Secondary Education, Manipur. However the State Government has not done any thing to solve the problems being faced by the student community even after the DPC has been conducted successfully to fill up the vacant post, it said.
It maintained that the position of the education in the state has gone from bad to worst in recent times, especially under the present government.
The students’ body charged that the government has not taken any measures to promote education despite the constitutional directives under Article 45 of the Directive principals of the State Policy to provide for free and compulsory education to all the children until the complete 14 of age.
The series of protest doing the round in the state by different teaching communities in the State including the controversy of the suppression and delay in the declaration of the DPC is evident of the sorry state of Education under the present Government, it said.
While appealing to the people to extend their co-operation in an effort to bring an early solution to the problems, the KSO has demanded the government to make public the findings of the communities which conducted an inquiry into the issue at the level of Chief Secretary and the Legal Department, failing which it warned of taking recourse to various forms of agitation to meet the demand, adds the statement.
