MPP blames CM of sowing hill-valley divide

IMPHAL, Feb 15: Bringing about a peaceful uncorrupted state is the dream of Manipur People’s Party stated MPP president Nimaichand Luwang while speaking as chief guest at today’s function of launching the One day Youth Political Conference held at Tangjeng Lampak under Wangkhem assembly constituency in Thoubal district.

The MPP president further stated that, the state has been witnessing a rise in criminal activities on a daily basis due to the unemployment crisis that the state is facing today.

He further maintained that many qualified persons are facing unemployment in the state due to corruption and it is high time that the government should start taking in qualified persons.

He has further alleged that the present SPF government is demanding a bribe of Rs 15 lakhs for the post of an Assistant Sub Inspector and Rs 20 lakhs for the post of a Jamandar, before adding that such corrupt practices will only worsen the sufferings of the people of the state.

He urged the people of Thoubal assembly constituency to sense this impending issue and help in bringing a positive change to the Manipuri populace by helping the state party. This change cannot be brought by the political leaders alone but they need cooperation from the general populace to usher in a peaceful and better life for the people of the state to enjoy, he maintained.

Guest of honour ex MLA of Khangabok L Jatra Singh also lamented that some of the major achievement of the SPF government during their long tenure of holding the government in the state are the 52 days of economic blockade resulting in the non availability of essential commodities in the state, price rise, angst suffered by qualified persons being unable to pay bribes for jobs.

He further added that the Chief Minister of the state has another milestone in his name- that of bringing his family members in the political limelight and sowing of dissent between the hill and valley of the state by holding Autonomous District Council election forcibly.

He further added that the current upsurge of criminal incidents concerning state security personnel like looting, kidnapping as seen daily in the local newspapers are all results of the practice of corruption during their recruitment.

FECTAM strike
IMPHAL Feb 15: The Federation of College Teachers’ Associations, Manipur (FECTAM) in a press statement by the organization’s convenor M Lokendra states that the college teachers demanding implementation of UGC pay scales is ready to carry out a series of protests.

The release further states that , the teachers demand has been sidelined by the state government , in the interest of bringing about quality education in the state , FECTAM in accordance to the ultimatum submitted to the government will take mass casual leave on February 18 and 19. Afterwards sit in protests will beheld at the college campuses from 21 to 26 February and later will go on cease work strike from February 28 onwards, the release added.

KSO demands DPC results for primary teachers

IMPHAL Feb 15: The Kuki Students’ Organization, Tuilang Block has appealed to the public to unite in pressuring the government to announce the authenticated result of the primary teachers.

A joint press release by Sehminlenb Gangtae, president of KSO ,Twilang Block and Lamkholun Haolai , Secretary KSO states that it is an open knowledge that more than 1200 posts of primary teachers are lying vacant in the education department (S), Manipur since 2006.

The release further stated that it is a fact that the government has made efforts to recruit primary teachers in 1991, 1997 and 2006 but have not managed to carry out the process.

Further, the statement alleged that due to corruption and nepotism, the recruitment result of the 1200 candidates have not been announced as of yet by the ministers and MLAs on grounds that their favored candidate have not been acknowledged, thus the KSO assumes that anyone or any organization who are involved in the pending of the results of the DPC of the primary teachers are against the right to education.

Lastly, the organization has appealed to the public to demand the government for the speedy announcement of the result of the said DPC.
