Signal army to celebrate 100th Anniversary

    IMPHAL, Feb 8: The Corps of Signals of Indian Army, is celebrating its 100th Anniversary on 15 February 2011.The Corps of Signals are the sentinels of modern Communication and Information Technology in the Indian Army Over a period of last 100 yrs, the Corps has progressed from the era of Morse code to Information Warfare. Today the Corps is proud of having incorporated niche technologies to provide secure, swift, robust Communications and Informations Technology Infrastructure for the Indian Army.
    Red Shield Signals are to commemorate this momentous occasion by organising a `Blood Donation Camp` at Leimakhong Military Station This noble cause is a testimony to the dedication, commitment and tribute of gallants “INFORMATION WARRIORS” to the people of Manipur and reflects the faith and affiliation with local populence.  The Blood Donation Camp has been organised in collaboration with Rotary Club of Imphal (RID 3240) and Department of Immunohaematology Blood Bank RIMS, Imphal.
    The Noble Occasion was graced by Major General DS Hooda, AVSM, VSM**, General Officer Commanding Red Shield Division who inaugurated the event. Commandant RS Jassal, Vice President Rotary Club of Imphal and Dr Th. Tomcha Singh, Professor & Head of the Radiotherapy Department and Regional Cancer Centre RIMS, Imphal were also present during the event. Speaking on the occasion, The General Officer Commanding commended the noble initiative undertaken by the Red Shield Signals which will go a long way to help the needy people of Manipur state by donating the collected blood in emergency. He re-emphasised the commitments of the Indian Army towards cause and development of Manipur state.  A total of 100 Officers, Junior Commissioned Officer and Other Ranks of Red Shield Signals donated blood on this auspicious occasions. Colonel RS Saini, Commanding Officer Red Shield Signals started the ceremony by donating the blood which was followed by Officers, Junior Commissioned Officers and Other Ranks of the unit Red Shield Signals has already established Leimakhong Computer Training Centre at Mount Calvary Hill School for unemployed local youth a few months ago.
