Woman death sparks controversy

    IMPHAL, Feb 21: A married woman who was hospitalized at RIMS for reportedly consuming pesticide succumbed late last night at the hospital.
    The victim is identified as Irom (O) Tombisana, 20, w/o I. Herojit of Kyamgei Maning Leikai, under Irilbung Police station.
    According to sources, the women was found struggling on her bed by her husband last evening after returning home from attending her a feast at her brother`™s place. The victims`™ husband had gone to ask her wife who was inside their room to prepare dinner however on seeing his wife struggling on the bed, he enquired of what she had eaten but the victim responded of consuming nothing.
    The husband detected some suspicious odour from the victims`™ mouth following which the victim was rushed to hospital, said the sources.
    However when family members of the deceased pointed the allegation to the victims`™ husband and family members, a fight broke out this afternoon at JNIMS, where the dead body of the woman was referred by RIMS authority for further post mortem. During the fight the husband suffered minor injuries and was later taken away by the police.
    The Irilbung police has also lodge a case in connection with the incident. Sources further said that there were bruise marks on the body of the deceased.
