11 Companies Nagaland Police for Assam election duties

KOHIMA, Mar 16 (NEPS): 11 Companies of Nagaland Police would be leaving Nagaland for Assam’s election duty soon.

Confirming this to NEPS here today, Nagaland DGP K Kire said the Election Commission of India has directed the State Government to send 11 Companies of Nagaland Police for election duties to States that had been going for elections.

He said since Assam was very close to their State, they requested that the Nagaland Police personnel to be deployed there. And the Election Commission had agreed to it.

The Nagaland Police personnel would report by March 18 this month to Assam. “We are prepared for the election duties there,” the DGP stated. “They will be there for about two months.”

Kire also disclosed that the Nagaland Police going for the election duty in Assam would be there in advance and would remain there even after the election to help maintain law and order of post-election scenario.
