Anganwadi workers demand

    IMPHAL March 17: The Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Union,Manipur in a press release by general secretary of the union,M Binodini states that a memorandom has been submitted to the Chairman of the National Rural Health Mission demanding redressal of grievances suffered by the workers at present.
    The release states that the security personnel of RIMS and JNIMS cause undue disturbance when the ASHA workers take the expecting mothers to the hospitals and also while trying to take the signatures of the concerned doctors, the ASHA workers are even sometimes not allowed to accompany the pregnant women.
    There are irregularities while drawing of funds, some receive 10,000 Rs per annum but others draw only Rs 5875,some workers are provided bicycles whereas the majority have not received as of yet, release state. The union demands that the grievances and the irregularities be addressed by the concerned and further to enhance the remuneration of the ASHA worker to minimum wages status.
