Congress leader from Mon decries DAN

KOHIMA, Mar 23 (NEPS): NPCC General Secretary and Ex-Congress Candidate of Wakching Assembly Constituency, Yona Konyak has expressed his unhappiness on the lack of development in the Mon district.

The NPCC General Secretary said since the DAN coalition came to power in Nagaland, there were hardly any visible sign of development in the district. He said in Wakching area, most of the administrative blocks were established before the DAN coalition came to power in 2003. And till today these blocks remained the same. For example, when Hokishe Sema was Chief Minister, SDO (C) had been given to Wakching and wheile Dr SC Jamir was Chief Minister, he had upgraded Naginimora SDO (C) to that of ADC status.
Likewise most of the establishments as seen today were done before DAN coalition came to power in Nagaland, the NPCC General Secretary claimed.
Yona also expressed regret that the Wakching Town, which was there since 1929 during the British time, had no “water supply” till date. He said the water supply was not there in many villages in Wakching areas either.
The only village in the area getting water supply facility is Tanhai. “That is also given by World Vision, an International NGO,” the NPCC General Secretary stated. “Otherwise, there is no water supply in the Wakching area and other surrounding villages.”
The NPCC General Secretary also disclosed that road conditions in the many areas in the district were getting worsening. Most of the roads were constructed before the DAN coalition came to power, he claimed.
Yona also alleged that electricity supply in many areas like Wakching, Wanching, Chingphoi, Chingtan, etc. were in pitiable state and remained non-functional since 10 years back.
