IMPHAL, Mar 12: The Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the brutal killing of Dr Th Kishan, Y Token and A Rajen Sharma has demanded the concerned authority to take action against former Ukhrul DC Pankaj Kumar Pal who was allegedly involved in the murder of the trio.
A release of the JAC said that for the last couple of days ‘slapping’ of DM of Gopalgunj in Bihar by a lady Principal of a women’s college is making national news headline and a panel has been set up to probe the incident.
The concern of JAC over this incident is that the DM of Gopalgunj is none other than the former Ukhrul DC Pankaj Kumar Pal who was allegedly involved in the brutal murder of Dr Kishan, Token and Rajen.
The Government of Manipur has persistently refused to divulge the whereabouts of Pankaj Pal. As per the order of Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, Government of Manipur, No. 4/25/2003-IAS/DP dated 19 February, 2009, Pankaj Pal was suspended with immediate effect while disciplinary proceedings were contemplated against him. He was also instructed no to leave Imphal Headquarters without obtaining permission of the Chief Secretary.
The release further stated that the very presence of Pankaj Pal as the DM of Gopalgunj was exonerated of all charges against him by the government and sent him on deputation to Government of Bihar. The explicit efforts of the Government of Manipur to keep the whereabouts of Pankaj Pal a secret have become futile with the exposition of Pankaj Pal’s name in the media.
The JAC further appealed to the OC of Ukhrul PS to record the statement of Pankajkumar Pal whose whereabouts have remained unknown to the police.
