Imphal, Mar 8: A 40-hour Manipur bandh has been called by the Manipur Peoples Liberation Front (MPLF), an umbrella organisation of UNLF, RPF/PLA and PREPAK boycotting the maiden visit of President of India Pratibha Patil to Manipur on March 10.

The bandh will begin from midnight of March 9 which will conclude at 4 pm of March 11.

The MPLF said it has been 60 years since India had annexed Manipur and since then the Indian security forces have been carrying out brutal acts against the people of Manipur. The MPLF also said that the imposition of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) has been imposed in the last 55 years in the state and under this act, the Indiam army had killed and committed atrocities on the Manipuris. The visit of Pratibha Patil is nothing but to further the crooked policies of India in the region, said the MPLF.

It alerted the people of Manipur that nothing good can be expected from the visit of Pratibha Patil to Manipur.
