Now a person with good academic records can expect govt jobs

IMPHAL, Mar 8: In the aftermath of controversies in the recruitment of teachers under department of education (s), the state cabinet meeting convened today under the chair of Chief Minister Okram Ibobi has approved recruitment of 536 contractual graduate teachers under Rashtriya Madhyamik Shikshya Abhiyan (RMSA) based on the marks secured by the candidates in various academic examinations.

Speaking to media-persons after the cabinet meeting, YAS Minister N Biren stated that unlike the previous recruitment process of teachers under department of education (s), the mode of selection for these contractual graduate teachers will be based totally on marks secured by the candidates in classes X, XII, graduate and master’s examinations. The weightage on academic records of the candidates will be of 85 marks out of total 100 while the viva-voce will carry only 15 marks. The position holders of board and university examinations will also get extra-weightage in the selection process.

However, the desired qualification for the teachers is master’s degree in arts or science discipline and degree in bachelor of education (B.Ed) is mandatory for all candidates.

The 536 graduate teachers will include 201 arts teachers, 134 science teachers, 67 mathematics teachers, 67 English teachers and 67 teachers of other languages. These teachers will be posted in the newly upgraded 23 high schools and 44 high schools proposed for upgradation under RMSA.

Moreover, there will be age relaxation up to five years for those candidates who have already faced the DPC interview of recruitment of graduate teachers in 2006.

The state cabinet also approved the increment of die-in-harness scheme to 10 percent from the existing five percent. The next of kin (real brother or sister) of an unmarried government employee is also entitled to get job under the die-in-harness scheme.

In the process of giving appointments under the die-in-harness scheme, the applicants of 2001-02 will be given the first priority, N Biren stated.

It was also approved that the state government will give a period of three years for availing the benefits of die-in-harness scheme in case the next of kin of the deceased employee is a minor of about 15 years.

The recruitment of 318 part-time instructors including 106 art instructors, 106 physical instructors and 106 work instructors under Sarva Shikshya Abhivan (SSA) was also approved by the state cabinet today.

The desired qualification for the instructors is degree or professional diploma in the related field of activity.

The recruitment of one medical officer, one statistical assistant and nine supervisors of new TB Hospital along with recruitment of one each post of programme manager, account manager, finance manager and data assistant of AYUSH were approved during the cabinet meeting.

Further, the state cabinet approved 100 percent hike in water tax in areas which come under urban water supply schemes to cope up the increasing cost of maintenance. However, there will be only 50 percent hike for health and educational institutions. The hike has been made with subject to regular supply of good quality water to the consumers.

The framing of Manipur Reservation of Vacancy in Post and Service for SC/ST Rules, 2011 was also approved by the state cabinet today.
