NSCN-K shoots erring cadre on legs

IMPHAL, March 31: The GPRN/NSCN (K) Zeliangrong Region, shot one of its cadres on both legs as a punishment for misconduct and transgresses, on the night of March 29.  
A statement issued by the guard commander of the outfit said that private Chanajen, s/o Khangkim of Rengpang, Tamenglong district, army number 15918 of 2007 batch, was punished by the GPRN/NSCN-K, Zeliangrong region, by shooting both his legs.
It further stated that the punishment given to the cadre was not a show of strength but to remind that standing against the will of the Zeliangrong will lead to nothing but trouble. At the same time to remind all the Zeliangrong that GPRN/NSCN-K stand firm for the betterment of the people and for the Nagas as a whole.
The statement revealed that Chanajen had once defected from the outfit and later returned and surrendered to the outfit owing to which a second chance to work for the betterment of the community been given to him.
However instead the cadre once again deceived the outfit and ran away to join another organization. He started taking up various activities against the outfit. He worked for other agencies as a spy and also tried to capture its colleague, it said.
Besides that Chanajen started extorting money from general public using fake letters of the outfit. In this regards the outfit had warned the family members who failed to not pay attention, it added.
The outfit was left with no choice but to act adding the punishment is an example and a truth that using any other forces to misguide the government of GPRN/NSCN-K will be in vain and surely fall one day, it held.
The outfit said that the family members of Chanajen should be held responsible for their disrespect adding it warned that similar consequences would be meted out if they go beyond, the statement added.
