IMPHAL, March 31: Decrying the bomb attack that inflicted serious injuries to L. Ratan, headmaster of the Kwakeithel Primary school last evening, a sit in protest was staged by the women folk of Kwakeithel Thiyam Leikai today.

While talking to media persons, the victims’ mother, Bilasini, revealed that the family members are not aware of why the attack was carried out before urging the concerned organizations or individuals to clarify on the motive behind the attack.

It may be recalled that last evening around 7 pm L. Ratan sustained multiple splinter injury when miscreant exploded a bomb at their residential campus.The victim is currently undergoing treatment at the RIMS.

On the other hand, another sit in protest was also staged today at the Manipur University campus organized by the students of the university, decrying the threat imposed at the Langthabal Kunja Awang Leikai residence of Oinam Imomcha, HOD computer science, MU, by individuals identifying themselves as GPRN, Zeliangrong.

The students during the protest displayed placards saying “We condemned violence, stop spreading fear”, “Don’t waste bomb” “threat to teachers is threat to students”, “Free teacher for free education” etc.

Sources said that the individual claiming themselves to be GPRN Zeliangrong had served a monetary demand of rupees three lakh on March 12 along with live bullets. The letter head was signed by one Jack Kamei.

On failing to give the demand, on March 22, the said miscreants strongly intimidated the HOD and asked him to double the demand for his negligence. Further a hand grenade was gifted to him on March 28.
