Campaign on AFSPA held at Odisha

IMPHAL, April 15: A week long campaign to sensitize the people of Odisha (former Orrisa) on the issue of Armed forces Special Powers Act, 1958 and the unprecedented struggle of Sharmila was launched today at Lohiya Academy, Bhubaneshwar, informed a statement issued by the Just Peace foundation.
It said that the session was chaired by Prasanta Paikray besides that Sudhir Pattnaik, Editor, Samadrusti, Chittaranjan Singh, general secretary, INSAF, Babloo Loitongbam, Director Human Right Alert and Narendra Mohanty coordinator of the campaign also attended the programme.
A play entitled ‘Le Mashale’ (Meira Paibi) by V.S Ojas from Pune was performed during the campaign.
It said that the same play and sensitization meetings will be held at various parts of Odisha including Dhinkia and Govindapur on April 16, K. Nuagan and Daringibadi on April 17, Brahmanigaon on April 18, Chandikhole, Jaraka and JK Road on April 19. the campaign will concluded on April 20 at Puri/Belabal, it said.
At the same time it further informed that similar campaign will also be conducted at Rajasthan and Bihar adding that the campaign had conducted at Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
