IMPHAL April 23: Four civil organizations of the state, the All Manipur Chingmi Tammi Apunba Nupi Lup, Apunba Manipur Kanba Ima Lup, All Manipur Nupi Samaj Lup and the Universal Mothers Organization decried the arrest and detaintion of Moirangthem Landhoni who was arrested by the NIA on March 7 from Guwahati.
Sorojini Leima, president of UMO stated that the indefinite fast undertaken by Landhoni is a right step and a democratic form of protest, but in purview of her three children, the youngest a suckling infant, she should reconsider her stance.
She also said thet Landhoni’s health is deteriorating day by day and if any unwanted incident happens to her , the sole responsibility has to be borne by the NIA, as she was rearrested by the NIA after being granted bail for six months by the Guwahati High Court, which is a gross violation of human rights.
Such action perpetrated in the so called democratic nation clearly indicates the high handedness of the security forces and their complete disregard for law and order, she said.
The representatives of the civil organizations voiced that Landhoni should be released at the earliest failing which agitations will be launched by the women bodies along with other like minded civil organizations of the state.
