Cycle club bats for pollution free environment

IMPHAL April 29: Manipur Cycle Club, a non profit organization advocating a pollution free environment and for the state government to introduce cycle lanes in the major inter city roads held a mass cycle rally today, propagating their cause.

The rally which started from DM college of Science, was participated by many enthusiasts including eminent journalists, artists, social activists, students and members of the cycle club.

The rally commenced from DM college campus in the evening and drove towards Chingmeirong and following other major routes concluded at the Bir Tikendrajit park where in the members of the club distributed flyers urging the public to spread environmental awareness and to adopt cycling as a means of transport in the urban areas.

The cycle rally also saw a demonstration from BMX enthusiasts who performed bike stunts as a part of the awareness campaign.

The members of the club also met various concern officials of the state government to endorse the appeal of the club and establish bicycle lanes.

The cycle rally is also aptly titled as `Critical Mass`™, which denotes a gathering of cycle enthusiasts in a place and then have a ride in a city or town.
