Discussion on exports opportunities at Moreh trade centre

From Our CorrespondentMOREH, April 18: A panel discussion on exports opportunities through land customs station, Moreh was held today at Trade Centre here as a part of the awareness programme on border trade jointly organised by department of commerce & industries, government of Manipur and Shelliac & Forest Products Exports Promotion Council (SHEFEXIL).

The panel dicussion was presided by Anup K Pujari, director general foreign trade, department of commerce, GOIand O Nabakishore Singh principal secretary com & Ind, GOM. Altogether 13 other officials represented the Indian side.

The Myanmarese side was represented by 12 officials led by U Hla Maung, president, Union of Myanmar Border Trade Chambers of Commerce.

Representatives of various trade related organisations like BTCCM, AMEA, NEFIT, EXIM Manipur, IMBTU and FAMIECCI etc. also took part in the programme.

The main agenda discussed during the panel discussion were hardships being faced by traders and general public while ferrying goods along the national highway – 39 due to numerous check post.

Later, a memorandum was submitted to the visiting DGFT by representatives of the BTCC.

The central official along with state officials also made inspection at trade centre at Tamu, Pagoda, Thoibi Pat, Moreh Gate No. 2 etc.

In the meantime, a one day consumer awareness programme was held at Eastern Shine School, Moreh in which several resource person from Consumers Club Manipur spoke about consumers rights and respnsiblities.
