District hospitals to have blood banks by next year

IMPHAL April 16:The prize distribution of the first sports meet organised by the All Manipur Working Journalists’ Union (AMWJU) from March 18 to 22 was held today at the Manipur Press Club at Majorkhul. The cash prizes of the journalist who participated in different disciplines were handed out during the prize distribution ceremony.
Pradeep Kumar Jha (IAS) and mission director of NRHM and AMWJU president Khogendra Khomdram attended as the chief guest and president respectively.
 Taking full advantage of the attendees who were mainly mediaprsons, the chief guest stated that the district hospitals in the state will have their own independent blood bank by next year.
he also stated that The  process of installing the solar panels has already been started, and to further augment the power losses in the state, solar panels will be utilized in all hospitals to keep the blood banks in working condition. This will help immensely in providing medical care to the public of far flung areas.
He also stated that medicines are procured from a Tamil Nadu firm and 20 truckloads have arrived in the state, the medicines are meant for free distribution at all health centers of the government including, PHC’s, CHC and PHSC etc.
The medicines have an expiry date till 2013, Jha stated that if the medicines are found being sold at drug stores then  for the media  to highlight the corruption. He said that Manipur is the sports capital of the Nation and have produced countless international athletes. He commended the journalists of the state for taking up efforts for organizing the sports meet.
he further appealed to the attending media persons to report any kinds of poor medical infrastructures in the far flung areas so that the health department can address the issue.
