IMPHAL April 30: A commando personnel of the state police today reportedly shot one of his friend after an altercation among the two.
According to a reliable source, the police commando identified as one Bombom of Wangjing Lamding under Thoubal ps, who is a driver with the Imphal West district Commando shot a friend identified as Nahakpam Basanta, 35 of the same locality this evening at around 8 pm.
The source maintained that following an altercation with his friend while gossiping at a local playground, Bombom shot and killed Basanta with his service revolver. Basanta is identified to be a brick mason.
Angered with the incident and the high-handedness of the commando personnel, locals first ransacked Bombom`™s residence and property, however on failing to apprehend the alleged killer, the angered residents of the area burnt down Bombom`™s house.
Furthermore, the locals came out into the streets and stopped vehicular traffic along the Wangjing road till late in the evening.
The same source further stated that even after the arrival of the police at the scene, the angered locals remain on the road demonstrating against the incident.
Meanwhile, the source added that the culprit is still absconding.
