    IMPHAL, April 25: The Ministry of Rural Development has released a grant in aid worth Rs 56,15,00,000 as part payment of the 1st installment of Phase-VII for construction of rural roads in Manipur under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) for the current financial year.
    According to release of the PIB Imphal, the sum is from the special window created in National Bank for Agriculture & Rural Development (NABARD), under RIDF as grant in aid to the Manipur state Rural Road Development Agency (MSRRDA). MASRRDA is the  agency executing the works taken up under PMGSY in the state.
    The release further mentioned that PMGSY is a 100% centrally sponsored scheme to provide road connectivity in the rural areas of the country. PMGSY envisages connectivity to all habitations with a population of 500 persons and above in the rural areas and about 250 persons and above in respect of the hilly states, tribal areas and desert areas through good and all weather roads, the release added.
