High tech testing facilities for state vety hospital says minister

IMPHAL April 30: The Disease Investigation Laboratory at State Veterinary Hospital, Sanjenthong will now be equipped with Bio Security Level`“II or BSL`“II from the month of May.

This was stated by the minister of veterinary and animal husbandry while speaking on the occasion of the XI World Veterinary Day 2011organized by Manipur State Veterinary Council under the theme `Rabies`™ and held at the Conference Hall of Manipur Veterinary Council, Sanjenthong, as the Chief Guest N. Loken Singh, Minister(Vety. And animal Husbandry, Social welfare and Minor Irrigation) said that the State government.

He stated that the State government is ready to inaugurate testing facility known as Bio Security Level `“II or BSL `“II, for highly contagious fatal diseases spread from animals and pets such as swine flue, bird flue, etc within the month of May. The facility will bring much relief to the State as the existing disease testing facility at Veterinary Hospital is not fully equipped to handle such diseases.

The minister who also holds the Social welfare and Minor Irrigation portfolio in the SPF government further stated that in a State like Manipur people should also engaged themselves in animal husbandry as a means of livelihood and appealed the Veterinary Department to take every precautionary measure to check spread of various forms of diseases amongst the animals in the state.

The function was also attended by I.S. Laisram, IAS, Principal Secy.(Vety &A.H.),Dr. Th Jeevan Singh, President, MSVC and D.C. Karnatak, A.C.C.F Government of Manipur as the president and Guest of Honours respectively.
