Huge consignment of drugs seized

IMPHAL, April 18: A team of Singjamei police has seized huge consignment of banned chemical narcotic drugs from a passenger carrying Diesel auto on April 16 evening around 8 pm from Singjamei Chinga Makhong.
The seized chemicals were displayed before the media today at the office chamber of SDPO Singjamei police today.
Speaking to mediaperson Th Bikramjit Singh, SDPO Singjamei police mentioned that a team of Singjamei Police under his command on getting specific reports of the transportation of huge quantities of banned chemical narcotic drugs by some individuals for the business purposes, the police team made their alert by conducting frisking and checking in and around the Singjamei Chingamakhong on April 16 evening.
The police team later conducted checking in a passenger Diesel Auto having registration No. MN01D/5496 and found 300 strips of Spasmo Proximo (SP) tablets and 110 strips of Nitrosun-10 (N-10) inside two separate bags which was in the said diesel auto.The driver of the said diesel auto identified as Md. Janishkhan, 30, son of Md Apikkhan of Kiyamgei Muslim Laphupat and another occupant identified as Hamidur Rahaman, 26, son of Jiwauddin Rahaman of Lilong Kalikhong were arrested, the SDPO Singjamei said.
He further told the media persons that during the preliminary interrogation by the police to the arrested persons it has been revealed that the banned chemical narcotic tablets were transported from Kolkata by air for business purposes and the said business were jointly run by three persons and one person absconded from spot at Singjamei Chingamakkong on the same evening.In the meantime, the two arrested persons were produced before Judicial Magistrate Imphal yesterday and further taken to three days police remands for further interrogation.
