Manipur Ras Leela festival inaugurated

IMPHAL April 25: Three days Festival of Manipur Ras Leela was inaugurated at a formal function held today at Geeta Thibam Mandav,Sagolband Tera Amudol Leirak, Imphal.The festival is organized by Urungpurel Museum and Heritage Research centre in collaboration with Forward Artistes Centre en-camped, Sagolband Tera Amudol Leirak, under the aegis of ministry of Culture, Govt. of India , New Delhi,(Culture Function Grants Scheme).
With a view to rejuvenate the various forms of Ras Leela, the festival was organized said the president of the Urungpurel Museum and Heritage Research centre.  The inaugural function was presided by W. Mera Singh, Deputy Director,Art and Culture, Govt. of Manipur and L.Iboyaima Singh, Chairman , FACE as the Chief Guest and President respectively. In the evening Urungpurel Museum and Heritage Research centre presented Nupa Pala (Sankirtana) and followed by Nitya Ras.
The festival is for three days, starting from today. The festival will start from 4 pm everyday. Tomorrow, College of Music and Performing Arts will perform Nupa Pala followed by Basantaras. The programme is sponsored by Public theatre Artist association, Nambol. On the final day, the Forward Artistes Centre En-camped (FACE) will present Nupa Pala followed by Maharas.
