New MPSC chairman appointed

IMPHAl, April 12: The Manipur government has appointed Dr. S Singsit, IFS (Retd) as chairman of the Manipur Public Service Commission.

The post had been lying vacant following the retirement of former chairman of the commission Dr. S Amarjit.

Chief secretary, DS Poonia in an official order mentioned that, pay and allowance and other conditions for the newly appointed chairman of MPSC will be governed by the MPSC Regulations, 1972 as amended from time to time.

It may be mentioned, various level of civil societies and students bodies have expressed their serious concern over the total lapses of the administrations of the MPSC and its failure in the absence of a regular chairman.

State government with an objective to maintain a full fledged commission for the state in two other separate official orders by the chief secretary on April 8 ordered for the appointment of two full fledged members of the commission.

The two newly appointed members are, Muhammed Abdus Sattar, IAS (Retd) and P Bharat Singh, IAS (Retd). The order also mentioned that, both retired IAS officials have been appointed as members of the Commission for a period of six years from the date on which they enter upon their office or until they attains the ages of 62 years, whichever is earlier and their pay and allowances and other conditions of services will be governed by the MPSC Regulation, 1972 as amended from time to time.

  1. They are just rubber stamps, they cannot perform their duties independently withou outside influence. Many of them have no guts also who can exercise power given to them. They must be surely from the pockets of the Hon’ble CM. We cannot rely on the present day MPSC. The govt is doing to mend the legal loopholes.
