    IMPHAL, April 30: The proscribe Revolutionary Peoples Front, RPF has extended its heartfelt greetings to the people of Manipur on the occasion of May Day which is being celebrated every year globally.

    A RPF statement issued by its publicity secretary T Leishemba said that the central idea behind May Day celebration relates to rights of the labourers. Of the 24 hours in a day, a labourer works for eight hours, take rest for another eight hours and the remaining eight hours are spent with their near and dear ones, it maintained.

    While stating that May Day celebration encourage labourers to demand for their legitimate rights, the RPF statement further said different forms of movement are being witnessed in different parts of the world against denial of rights of the labourers.

    While recalling the peasants movement initiated by Hijam Irabot for the betterment of labourers and peasants, the RPF has called upon labourers to unite and launch a united movement against suppressive rule to fulfill their rights.
