IMPHAL ,April 5: Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF) assistant secretary general in a press statement condemns the killing of Waikhom Mani Devi (75) by the Assam rifles.
RPF states that the wanton killing clearly indicates that the central security forces specially the Assam Rifles do not care about the lives and property of the public.
The incident is not a retaliatory action following an attack on the AR but a colonial oppression and a complete disregard for civilians.
15 AR following the ICC world Cup victory of India, fired indiscriminately from their post located at Tomjing Chingthak towards the residential areas of Thoubal Nonggang Khong, Thoubal Mayai Leikai and Thoubal Bamon Leirak ,the bullet holes at the walls and roofing of the houses are proof of the AR’s intent.
The elected leaders of the state remaining a mute spectator to the crime indicates that they are working in collusion with the central para military forces. RPF warns that it is not the right decision by the politicians, if the incident involved state police,they would have come out strongly in condemnation, the release states.
A clarification by the PRO ,IGAR (S) claiming that the incident was an accident is a lie to dupe the public.
The death of W Mani Devi needs to be condemned by all including the civil organizations and demand that Assam Rifles be sifted to non residential areas. The outfit deeply condoles the death of Mani and shares the grief of the family members.
