Saint Bosco relic arrives amidst grand reception

IMPHAL April 29: After much anxious anticipations, the relic of Saint Don Bosco has finally arrived here in Imphal today.

A grand reception ceremony was held today at the campus of Little flower school, Imphal.

At around 3.30 pm today, the casket containing the relic of Don Bosco arrived here on a chartered plane from Chennai. Notably, the relic began its journey on April 25, 2009, from Italy`™s Valdocco, Turin, in the Basilica of Mary Help of Christmas and is set to cross five continents, where salesian brothers are serving the youth in particular.

Fr Jose Palley, SDB, Logistic incharge of Dimapur province said in connection with the visit that the relic had traveled USA and Australia.

In south asia, it had covered Japan, Myanmer, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. He said that today`™s arrival in Imphal will mark the beginning of month`™s long journey throughout India.

The all India visits will last till the end of November this year. Talking to media persons, Fr Jose said that today`™s journey was started from Italy, after reaching Chennai on an International flight, the relic again started its journey on a chartered flight.

He said that the Salesian brothers and sisters regarded the relic as the living embodiment of Saint Bosco.

He further elaborated that Don Bosco was also an educator, a reformer and friend of youths.

The reception function was started from around 5pm. Many cultural shows from various communities and tribes were performed.

On the other side, as a result of today`™s function many parents were left at its wits end besides causing slight traffic congestion at the time of the arrival.
