State media left out from reported NIA raids

IMPHAL, April 28: The official team of the National Investigation Agency NIA led by Sk Singh, IPS, IGP (Investigation) NIA, and Swoyam Prakash Pani, IPS, Superintendent of Crime, NIA has reportedly continued with their raids to investigate the alleged nexus between the proscribed UNLF and sections of the public.
After yesterday’s raid at the Lamyanba Publication Trust campus located at Palace Compound yesterday which houses Ireibak newspaper, Lamyanba Sanglen, Lamyanba gymnasium and Lamyanba Polo Club, the NIA team again conducted raids today at two private residences belonging to Yumlembam Brajabidhu, 50, of Wankhei Eastern ground who is a brother in-law of Wangba, a high ranking cadre of the proscribed UNLF and at the residence of one Ibomcha of Wankgkhei Ayangpalli till late this evening.
However, due to the prevention of state mediapersons from covering the reported raids and non co-operation from the official team participating in the raids including both state and central forces, the actual cause for the raid was not officially confirmed till the filling of this report.
Meanwhile, it has been reported by a reliable source that the NIA team along with the state and central para military force had also conducted their surprise raid at the AEGIS Fruit processing unit located near the Matai garden, Koirengei.
It may be mentioned that, the NIA team led by Sk Singh, IPS, IGP (Investigation) NIA and Swoyam Prakash Pani, IPS, Superintendent of Crime, NIA had arrived in the state capital on April 5 to carry out investigations against officials, MLAs, ministers of state who have records of having nexus with insurgent groups operating in the state.
It may be mentioned that the recent conducted investigations by the team of NIA in the state could be part of follow up investigations or related to UNLF chairman, RK Meghen alias Sanayaima who was officially arrested in a widely “contested” course of events from Motihari district in Bihar late last year.
According to a highly placed official source, the ongoing investigations by the NIA team will be expanded as the team is likely to start investigations against ministers, MLAs, officials of different departments, engineers of various engineering departments of the state of whom the agency have record of having nexus with the insurgent group, the source added.
