UNICEF in Manipur to study situation and emerging needs of children

IMPHAL, April 5: UNICEF representative to India, Karin Hulshof arrived in Imphal this noon on her two days exploratory visit to explore the situation and emerging needs of children in Manipur along with Edourad Beigbeder, Chief Field Services, UNICEF India.
The delegates of UNICEF representative to India led by Karin Hulshof soon after they arrived attended called on meeting with state Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and other cabinet ministers at CM Bangalow this afternoon and discussed various emerging issues related to the welfare programmes need to be developed in the state.
Later the UNICEF delegates, attended interactions with secretaries of Departments relating to children, including Social Welfare, Health and Family Welfare and Education.
 Followed by the interaction with various NGOs working with Children and State Nodel officer at the conference hall, Old Secretariat, Imphal at about 2 pm this afternoon and discuss various issues and projects taken up by the different NGOs of the state for the welfare of the children.
Thereafter, the delegates have inspected RIMS, JNIMS, Carmel Jyoti Children Home and Sncha Bhawan Children Home, Children Home ( Mahila Kalyan and Thangmeiband).
In the meantime, since the visiting UNICEF Representative to UNICEF Karin Hulshof were declared state guest by the state government, she along her two companions were entertained with cultural dances at Hotel this evening and followed by a dinner. The UNICEF representative India and her fellows will depart Imphal Airport tomorrow morning.
It may be mentioned that, an official intimation has already given to the state government through chief secretary, in connection with the visit, as a result state government has already taken up preparations today in connection with her visit as per the official intimation.
