IMPHAL April 20: Wungnaoshang Keishing, today, reiterated the ambush that killed his personal escorts and left him and his family shattered, was carried out by the cadres of NSCN-IM.

A press conference was held this evening at the official bungalow of Wungnaoshang Keishing, MLA Phungyar constituency, in relation to the tragic incident that took place on April 15. He said that the alleged allegation of his connection with MNRF and UNCP on some newspapers were baseless and had no knowledge of it except NSCN-IM. However, for the past three years after the last general election he had severed ties with NSCN-IM, and had no connection till today. He said based on the statement made on local dailies today by NSCN-IM, it came to the conclusion that the fateful incident was indeed carried out by their cadres, although, he had some apprehension before. Interestingly Chief Minister gave an assurance prior to this development that whoever had done this cowardly act would not be spared.

Answering to a question, he affirmed that he supports the issue relating to Muivah`™s visit to his home town. Wungnaoshang was also one of the MLA, who was resigned from their legislative membership on an issue relating to Muivah`™s proposed visit to his ancestral home. Talking to the media persons Wungnaoshing said the reason for his resignation was not because of any pressure from NSCN-IM or in support of the outfit but for the people`™s movement.

He further elaborated that the issue of Muivah`™s visit to his paternal home was not an issue at all, however, in support of his people; he was compelled to take the extreme step. The interesting thing is the resignation letter which was sent to the speaker of the house is still pending.
It is no doubt that he is still the leader of his people and he will continue to work for the development and for the welfare of his people, he said on the sideline of the press conference. He also gave an affirmation that he would continue to work for the demand of a separate district of Phungyar.
