IMPHAL, May 20: Altogether 1,62,284 voters will exercise their franchise to elect 27 Councillors, seven in Imphal East and 20 in Imphal West in the upcoming election for the Imphal Municipality Council scheduled on May 25.
The same electorates will also determine the fate of 54 members of the IMC.
The electorates will exercise their franchise in 241 polling stations, out of which 66 are in Imphal East and 175 in Imphal West. In Imphal East, out of the 66 polling stations, 48 of them have been declared as sensitive while the remaining polling station as hyper sensitive.
In Imphal West, out of 175 polling stations, 77 have been declared as sensitive, 26 as hyper sensitive and 72 as normal.
In the meantime, with a view to maintain law and order and peaceful conduct of the IMC election, the district magistrate in Imphal East has asked all the license arms holders to deposit their arms to the respective police station within May 21.An order in this regard has been affected today by the DC Imphal East.
