Apunba Fitness Centre to organize `Transformation Challenge`

IMPHAL May 27: With an objective to promote fitness and strive towards a healthy society, Apunba Fitness Centre, a multi level health centre will organize a fitness challenge under the title `For Better Healthy Society` in July 2011.

Briefing media persons at the center`™s office at Nagamapal RIMS road today, floor manager L Kumarjeet said that the competition will last for three months, the objective of the competition will be to transform the obese and the underweight persons into healthy individuals. `The concept is to transform individuals through the natural process of a strict training regime, it is to show that without the aid of artificial methods such as using dietary supplements or steroid based medication, one can lead a healthy life and become a contributing member of society.`

The contest will be open to all individuals from throughout the state and will carry a cash prize for the top three winners, he added.

Managing director of the centre, Yumnam Hemlet, a triple gold medalist of `The Strong Man of India`™ title while sharing his views about promoting health awareness in the state, has stated that he is opening the health centre to share his more than 12 years of experience in the field.

Previously he had worked as a trainer at Pune at Solaris Fitness World after getting certified as a health trainer. Hemlet has also received certification from Thailand on various fitness courses.

`My objective is not for body building alone, but to provide health benefits for different physical ailments like frozen shoulder, backache, obesity etc. We had clients who have been rejected from getting into active service on grounds of being overweight, our training methods have helped them address their problems and they are now in service, some have even lost 24 kgs`, he said.

Briefing on the importance of training in an indoor facility, he said that the pollution level in Imphal city has affected the health of the early morning joggers as the moisture from the dewdrops releases harmful bacteria. `Its better to exercise in a healthy atmosphere rather than incurring health risks in a polluted environment, this centre is the best in the state`, he said.

At present, the centre has 14 staff and provides services from 5am till 8pm and charges 600 Rs per month as fee.
A new and more up to date branch centre at Thangmeiband will also be inaugurated next year, which will aim to be the biggest in the North East.
