Bazar vendors demand solution

IMPHAL, May 18: The Khwairamband Bazar Vendors Nupi Yaipha Lup has warned that bringing a lasting solution to the street vendors issue would be the only right step for the government.

In a press release, president of the street vendors nupi lup said that it was not a wise step for the current government to vacate street vendors from Khwairamband bazar area and shift them at an isolated place where there is hardly any customer for trading.

The release further said that faulty traffic system in Imphal city led to congestion and not the street vendors whose numbers according to the city size is so small.

While asserting that the actual number of street vendors in Khwairamband area is about 3/4 thousands only, she added that the figure is much higher as per IMC and PDA calculation which is because of the illegal issuance of vending permits by the later.

The Lup also asked government to identify the real street vendors and accomodate them with vending space at the earliest to settle the issue.
