IMPHAL, May 8: Thousands thronged the Manipur Baptist Convention (MBC) Centre Church to attend the Mother’s Day worship service held at the Church today. The best mother of the year 2011, was awarded to octogenarian Rawonla Muivah, wife of Yakho Muivah of Somdal village at present a resident of Dewlahland, the title carrying a citation, crown and a shawl was given away by Rajya Sabha MP, Rishang Keishing. Rawonla is a vegetable vendor and through her sheer perseverance raised her children to become respectable citizens of the society.
Another two women, Y Angangjaobi of Khurai Puthiba Leikai and SD Champei Chiru of Langol were also honored by the Church today for their dedication.Elizabeth Thaisii, better half of the education minister D D Thaisii conducted yeoman service by attending to the mother’s during the service.MBC, the largest church organization in the state observed the day under the title, “Honoring the life and Legacy of Mothers” in both morning and evening services. The benediction was read by Reverend S L Helkholam and Reverend Mathomi Vasha.
