BJP all set for IMC fight

IMPHAL, May 6: Under the theme ‘Save Imphal from Congress’ the Bharatya Janatadal Party will campaign in the coming Imphal Municipal Council election which is to be held on May 25, said BJP during a press conference held at its office conference hall today.
While speaking during the press conference called regarding the filling of nomination by 10 (ten) party candidates for councilor in the coming Imphal Municipal Council election, the state president of BJP Shantikumar Sharma said BJP will be the main contender for the Congress in the coming IMC election.
He further stated that BJP will lead other like-minded parties to formed the new IMC after the ensuing election and for that the party has tied up with other like minded political parties.
He further mentioned that BJP had nominated ten candidates for the councilors and all have submitted their nomination file to the concern authority today.
Supplementing the president, L Basanta media coordinator and who is also a candidate of the ensuing IMC election said that the BJP will campaign   under the theme ‘Save Imphal from Congress’.
He further charged that the IMC was cancelled during the SPF rule and he further charged that it was due to the SPF government trying to siphoned off the amount of Rs 1870 crores funded by the centre government for the development of the Imphal Municipal areas under the councilors.
He further added the coming IMC election was made possible after the BJP after learning that the SPF government is trying to siphon off the central funds, went to the union minister Urban Development, who revoked the cancellation of the IMC.
